INTERNATIONALIZATION DAY 2024 AT THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MOLDOVA: A CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY AND GLOBAL COLLABORATION

On May 18, 2024, the Open-air Technical Museum Park of the Technical University of Moldova hosted a significant event – Internationalization Day 2024. Organized by UTM’s International Relations Office and coordinated by Daniela POJAR, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs and International Relations, the day celebrated diversity and international collaboration within the University. In the context of Europe Day, the event’s theme was “FREEDOM, PEACE, PROSPERITY – EUROPE IS YOU.”

Internationalization Day brought together a diverse array of participants, including professors, students, alumni, UTM administration representatives, and development partners who have contributed to the implementation of various international projects and mobility programs. Among the distinguished guests were Gabriela OJOG, Director of the Development Foundation and coordinator of the Google grant awarded to UTM’s  “CYBERCOR” Cybersecurity Academy; Alexandru LEANCĂ, Project Coordinator at the US Embassy in Moldova; Claudia VIȘAN, responsible for the AUF National Office in Moldova; and Cristina GHERMAN, administrator of the Erasmus+ National Office Moldova.

The event featured five thematic tents, each dedicated to specific projects and international students, highlighting the remarkable results achieved through projects such as Erasmus+, eTwinning, Jean Monnet, AUF, FFI, FTA, CEEPUS, Horizon, World Bank, GIZ, FAO, cross-border projects, DRRM, as well as initiatives supported by USAID, the US Embassy, the UK Embassy, the Swedish Embassy (FTA, Agrotek Arena, Cybercor, Green Bio Hub, Fablab, Circle, Speaker Exchange Program, MESA, etc.).

In keeping with the event’s traditional spirit, Ms. Pojar engaged in discussions with international students at UTM, covering various aspects of the educational process and stressing the importance of adhering to UTM’s internal regulations.

A notable attendee at the event was Sidhant SIBAL, an Indian journalist visiting the Republic of Moldova for work. He conducted several interviews with UTM administration and international students, showcasing the university’s international and multicultural environment.

Internationalization Day 2024 at UTM was a resounding success, embodying the university’s commitment to European values and the significance of international collaboration in academia. The event reaffirmed the pivotal role of education and research in promoting freedom, peace, and prosperity, in alignment with European values.
