The aim of the study programme Veterinary Medicine | Preparing graduates for employment in veterinary activities. Training veterinarians with knowledge and practical skills necessary to deal with the various problems of animal health, welfare and management, as well as to ensure the safety of food products of animal origin, in order to protect public health. Students gain knowledge and skills on: - the structure, functions, behavior and psychological needs of animals in various physiological and pathological states;
- performing clinical, instrumental, including imaging and laboratory examinations and interpreting the symptomatology and the results of the investigations carried out in order to establish the diagnosis of the disease;
- the application of therapeutic principles in the prescription of drugs and the treatment of medical, surgical, obstetrical, infectious and parasitic diseases;
- the application of epidemiological concepts and methods necessary for the identification of diseases transmissible to animals and from animals to humans;
- interpretation of epidemiological investigations related to transmissible diseases for the purpose of training animal health and public health protection programs;
- carrying out veterinary health control, including through HACCP analyzes and certifying the quality of animal products;
- the use of the concept of Food Safety in the development and application of strategies for the integrated management of the health of animals and the products obtained from them;
- contributing to the realization of the concept of “One Health” by controlling zoonoses, ensuring food safety and fighting antibiotic resistance;
- Application of legal provisions regarding animal welfare and protection, as well as environmental protection in relation to animal breeding and obtaining animal productions.

Career opportunities | Thanks to the competences provided by the study programme, by the qualification and title granted, the veterinarian can carry out his activity in various professional fields, such as: - monitoring and protecting animal health and welfare and public health;

- veterinary sanitary control and certification of harmlessness of animal productions;
- production and distribution of veterinary medicines, etc.
The veterinarian can be employed in animal and poultry farms, veterinary clinics and hospitals, veterinary pharmacies and warehouses, zoos and circuses, slaughterhouses and animal food processing units, border inspection posts, state veterinary authorities, etc. |
